Discover Rikardo Druskic’s Artistic Journey:
A Living Canvas of Experience and Vision

Rikardo Druškić was born in 1990 in Zagreb and has spent all his adult life living in Sarajevo. His interest for art began during high school years with main focus on illustration and digital art. Rikardo uses combination of art techniques such as painting, drawing and digital art. His works have been exhibited, both independently and in collective exhibitions in many art galleries and public spaces in the world such as: Sarajevo, Mostar, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dubai, Taiwan, Berlin, Brussels and Vienna. In the early stages of his career, he was part of the YAGE movement in Sarajevo, where he held five solo exhibitions between 2012 and 2014. He was one of the finalists in the Art Revolution Competition Taipei in 2014 and the same year his works “Madness Continuous” and “Depth” were selected by visual art platform see.mee to be presented at the famous Times Square in New York. First solo exhibition “Tales of Love” took place at the Gallery Boris Smoje in 2014 in Sarajevo. Later that year the same exhibition was presented in Memorial Home of Svetozar Corovic in Mostar. 

One of his most significant professional exhibitions were: “Initiation”, Collegium Artisticum – Sarajevo, Gallery 25N – New York, “The Wall” – Historical Museum in Sarajevo, Post-election Trauma – Sarajevo, “Where is the Exit” – Gallery JAVA in Sarajevo, “Diggin”, Maineouevre – Berlin. Some of his projects include illustrations of the books as well. He was one the main participants of the first Festival of Street Art (FUU) in Sarajevo, during which his creative work was transmitted into public space. After that, he soon joined forces with the important street art initiative for Mostar Street Art Festival.

In 2016 he was invited to paint a mural inside the Sarajevo Youth Theater expanding his field of interest into the world of public art. Next step was first video exhibition “Children Joy” in Sarajevo projected on 1000m2 screen. Exhibition “Suscitans Conscientia” was held in City Hall of Sarajevo which marks the beginning of his new artistic expression and plans for the two new exhibitions in Brussels and Vienna. In 2019, he painted a replica of a WWII airplane, which is now an installation at the Museum of History in Sarajevo. Later that yeat he painted a mural in Brussels and in 2020 started residential program at Almuñécar, Spain. In February, Ricardo paints a replica of an airplane from WW2, which is exhibited in Museum of History in Sarajevo. Later on, for the birthday of his hometown Sarajevo, he organises exhibition “Was is Walter”, where the “replica” was firstly shown to the public. During the start of the Covid Pandemic, Ricardo makes his first video exhibition, through which he collects money for a charity organization “Pomozi.ba”. After that he starts working on his new project “Awakening Solidarity”, in which he paints 5 murals in 5 different cities in Bosnia&Herzegovina.

Ricardo’s involvement in the FASADE street art festival in July 2021 marked a significant milestone in his artistic journey, where he contributed to the vibrant street art scene with his unique style and creativity. Following this, his artistic prowess expanded even further with the creation of a monumental mural in Gorazde in 2022, solidifying his reputation as a prominent figure in the Bosnian art scene. In April 2023, Rikardo showcased his fourth international exhibition, presenting his Mundus Novus art cycles at the esteemed Gallery Maldita Estampa. Continuing his trajectory of success, Ricardo teamed up with fellow artist Hanna Dujmovic for a groundbreaking exhibition titled “TWO PAINTERS – ONE LOVE” in October 2023. This exhibition, considered one of the most significant contemporary art events in modern Sarajevo, showcased their collaborative efforts and garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and art enthusiasts alike. In summer of 2023, he was involved in the project “Culture on the Streets,” showcasing his “Flags” installation. At the start of 2024, Rikardo made waves in the Bosnian art scene by pioneering AI collaboration, becoming one of the first artists in his country to openly work with AI. His innovative approach led to the creation of stunning digital animations, marking a bold leap into the realm of digital art and adding new dimensions to his multidisciplinary practice.

In April 2024, Ricardo embarked on another international venture, this time heading to Sofia for his fifth exhibition featuring the acclaimed Mundus Novus series. In the summer of 2024, he won an award for his overall painting “NIikola Vucevic.” His video animations were accepted into the ONvideo Festival of Digital Art in Vienna. Ricardo’s most significant achievement of 2024 was having two of his artworks accepted to be part of the Interkontinental Biennial, which will take place in four countries: Argentina, Brazil, Panama, and Costa Rica.

Looking towards the future, Ricardo’s dedication to his craft led him to yet another milestone as he was accepted into his third residential program, this time in Manchester, New Hampshire. Scheduled to commence in September 2024, this residency promises to further nurture his talent and provide him with invaluable opportunities for artistic growth and exploration.
